TecHacks
2020
Women make up over 50% of the population, but only earn 18% of computer science bachelor's degrees in the United States. TecHacks is a hackathon aiming to bridge that gender gap by enabling female students to find a passion in computer science and problem solving, while creating a supportive environment of other like-minded females to compete and work with.
This year we are going virtual! Girls from all over the world have a chance to code, compete, connect, and win prizes. Participants will work on a project over the weekend with a team of 1-4 people. The project can be an app, website, or anything else you come up with that focuses on one of the four tracks below. We will have workshops throughout the weekend (refer to schedule below) for all skill levels, from first time coding to expert coder. Mentors will also be available throughout the weekend to assist teams with their hacks

Who is Eligible to Participate?All self-identifying females (non-binary and trans included) in high school or college can participate in this hackathon!

I don't really know how to code... can I still participate?Yes! Our Hackthon was created with beginners in mind and feature a lot of "crash course" workshops that will get you coding a project even without any experience.

Do I need a team?Teams are permitted, but not required. People can work in groups from 2-4 or can work indiviually. If you don't have a team but want one, there will be some you can join on the day of our event!

What should I have?You have to have a computer with working wifi. (We also recommend lots of snacks :))

How much does it cost?TecHacks is completely free! You do not need to pay for anything
